Open Call For Artists

Motion Gallery invites visual artists to an open call for this exciting new exhibit featuring Fan Art (think movies, music, TV shows, books) by local artists titled “Action! Adventure! Art!” The exhibition and sale will run from April 4 to 29th and painting, drawing, mixed media, and sculpture will be accepted. Prints will be accepted for the tables, however artwork to hang in the featured show must be original work. The show is open to anyone, emerging artists are encouraged to submit their work, as this is a not for profit artist run gallery that helps emerging artists get established. Artists can submit up to 3 pieces that must be no larger than a 2×3’ area per piece) plus prints for selling at the show. This exhibit is for artwork created any time, original art doesn’t have to be for sale and can be for exhibition only.

Artist Agreement / Terms & Conditions:

  1. Artworks to be brought to the gallery and submitted on March 27th, between 6-8pm, or March 30th between 12-5pm,  either day you must come with signed contract and labelled artwork. One label must be on back of painting, and art listed below.
  2. Artworks are limited to 3 wall submissions per artist, additional items for the glass cabinet and in containers on tables (please bring your own print display box) such as cards and prints are also accepted, must have tags and be listed in inventory grouped by image and number of prints for sale.. Fee is non refundable. All art must somehow be suitable and we reserve the right to reject unsuitable work, please include a short bio about yourself and the work.
  3. All art submitted must be original but does not have to be for sale, but must have some prints available for purchase. All work must be finished and ready to hang, with D rings and wired. No clip frames or saw tooth hangers, your artwork will be rejected if not wired properly. Paintings and frames must be completely dry. The gallery will wire your art at $10 per piece.
  4. Artworks will be displayed in Motion Gallery from April 4 to the 29th. Art must be picked up on April 29th between 6-9pm, or Saturday May 4th between 12-4pm. Art not picked up will be stored for 30 days. After 30 days of art being stored at the New Motion Gallery ownership of the art will be deemed transferred to the Motion Gallery Society. Artworks are to be collected by the artist, if sending someone to pick up your art, please arrange it with Motion Gallery, artwork will not be released without written permission from artist.
  5. Artworks cannot be removed from the Gallery before to the closing date of the exhibition, unless they are sold.
  6. Public Artist’s Reception will be April 12th, from 6-9, all artists are encourage to be present on that day. Artists participating will also have a chance to plan their own events if they want to invite their own groups to the gallery. Artists will also have to volunteer at least one day out of the month long show, during gallery hours, that will be arranged upon registration.
  7. The artist agrees that their artwork may be photographed and used in any promotional materials now or in the future and at the discretion of Motion Gallery Society.
  8. Motion Gallery will receive 25% commission. The artist will receive 75%. Please consider this in your pricing. Payment to the artist will be made within six (3) weeks of the exhibition finishing.
  9. By completing, signing and submitting this “Artist Submission Form”, the artist confirms that they have read these terms and conditions, and agree to participate in the Motion Gallery Event.
