Open Call For Artists

Motion Gallery invites visual artists to an open call for next exhibit to run from March 2nd 2019 to March 29th 2019, “$300 or Less Art exhibition and sale” Art Exhibit and  Sale, painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, and sculpture will be accepted. The show is open to anyone, emerging artists are encouraged to submit their work, as this is a not for profit artist run gallery, that helps emerging artists get established. Artists can submit up to 6 pieces of artwork (pieces must be no larger than a 2×3’ area) for the month long show, submission must be tied to the theme in some capacity which in this case means the total price for each art piece is $300 or less. As well we will need a small bio and story regarding the pieces.

Artist Agreement / Terms & Conditions:
1. Artworks to be brought to the gallery and submitted on February 20th between 6- 8 pm, or February 23, between 12-5 pm only, either day you must come with signed contract and labelled artwork. One label must be on back of painting, and art listed below.
2. Artworks are limited to 6 wall submissions per artist, additional items for the glass cabinet such as cards and prints are also accepted, must have tags and be individually listen in inventory. Fee is non refundable. All art must somehow be suitable and we reserve the right to reject unsuitable work, please include a short bio about the work.
3. All art submitted must be original and for sale.. All work must be finished and ready to hang, with D rings and wired. No clip frames or saw tooth hangers, your artwork will be rejected if not wired properly. Paintings and frames must be completely dry. The gallery will wire your art at $10 per piece.
4. Artworks will be displayed in Motion Gallery from March 2 to March 29, and must be picked up between Friday, March 29th in the evening at 8:00 pm or Saturday March 30th between 12-2:00 pm. Art not picked up will be stored for 30 days and then it will be forfeited to the gallery. Artworks are to be collected by the artist, if sending someone to pick up your art, please arrange it with Motion Gallery, artwork will not be released without written permission from artist.
5. Artworks cannot be removed from the Gallery before to the closing date of the exhibition, unless they are sold.
6. Public Artist’s Reception will be March 9, and a blow out sale will also be held March 23, in which artists will be encouraged to bring other items to be displayed for sale in the resident artists area. Artists participating will also have a chance to plan their own events if they want to invite their own groups to the gallery.
7. The artist agrees that their artwork may be photographed and used in any promotional materials now or in the future and at the discretion of Motion Gallery Society.
8. Motion Gallery will receive 25% commission. The artist will receive 75%. Please consider this in your pricing. Payment to the artist will be made within six (3) weeks of the exhibition finishing.
9. By completing, signing and submitting this “Artist Submission Form”, the artist confirms that they have read these terms and conditions, and agree to participate in the Motion Gallery Event.
